This week has been insane. Lots of driving, eating out of the car, whining kids.
And all to do with Seussical Jr.
When a show opens up in a week, you have to expect rehearsals every day. Well tell that to my OTHER kids. Their world is turned upside down, along with their schedules.
So I decided that it would be fun for both them and I to watch an assembly that Aliza was doing with the Seussical Jr. cast at HER SCHOOL. Oh, and it was arranged by me also, which meant double duty. One second, I'm consoling a crying kid, the next, I'm making sure curtains are shut and music is audible.
Yes, I'm nuts. But people already tell me that when they see me towing around 3 kids. So why not add more to my to-do list?
But back to the assembly. Classes start shuffling in (all 200 of them) and soon it starts. I'm distracting Gavin and Grace with Fruit Snacks, and watching Aliza at the same time. Now, it's duet time. Aliza is lucky enough to sing a duet as Jojo with Horton. It's my favorite song of the entire musical, and she got it. As she belts out her part, I'm getting emotional and tense. Will she remember what she's supposed to do or get nervous? Not my little girl.
Aliza hits it perfectly and I'm trying not to cry. I don't think that I could be any prouder or clap any louder.
I anxiously wait for the rest of the assembly to finish, and then run up and give her a hug. She is gonna kick butt next week in the show! I can't wait.
