Aliza has been losing her teeth, which is no surprise. She's at the point where it's happening to every kid her age, and she's been working on number 3. There's always some drama surrounding Aliza, and losing her teeth has been no exception to that. For weeks, she had told us that her tooth was loose, and it was pretty obvious by the way that it poked directly away from her mouth. But she refused to let us touch it, especially Steve, and just let her new, adult tooth make its way in back of the old one. Finally, we had enough. Steve, just yesterday, was threatening to yank it out. It was definitely ready. Then, a miracle happened. Aliza was knocked over on the trampoline. Bonk. And then later that night the toothbrush pushed a little too hard. Twist. This morning, after getting accidentally? shoved by Grace, Aliza's tooth fell out on its own. Hurrah! Her smile was so much prettier and her wallet will be a little bulkier, so we're all glad. Now if we can only work that same magic on every tooth...
On a different note, Grace had a field trip for preschool this week. I got a babysitter for Gavin and took Grace and her friend on their excursion. The plans were to visit the dentist, and then go to the grocery store. Once all 20 kids (four different preschools went together) had showed up, they got to watch a cartoon about kids fighting plaque, which Grace was enthralled by. Then, the tooth fairy showed up. She was just too cute with her sparkly white dress, wings, and wand with a tooth on the end. The kids listened to her little shpeil and believed every word she said. Then, she led them on a tour of the office and what all the tools do and gave them a sticker. Her parting words were to brush 2x a day, for 2 min. and floss. Let me tell you, Grace is obsessed with brushing and flossing now, and I think I may have to whip up my own sort of fairy whenever I need her to do something.
